Is your retractable screen Winter ready?

No matter what state you live in, the winter months impact everything inside and outside your home, including your retractable screen. With the winter months coming up, now is the time to prepare your retractable screen for the cold.

Here are some quick and easy steps:

Take a look around your screen and make sure it is free of debris, dust, and insects.

Use a mixture of warm water and a mild dish detergent with a soft brush to clean around the screen and the screen itself. Never use a spray like WD-40. These sprays attract more debris and interfere with the screen's normal movement. If you must use a spray, use a silicone based lubricant.

Use extra care when rolling them up and down in the winter to avoid debris and moisture build-up. Also, never lower the screen when there are wind speeds more than 15 mph. Similar to clear vinyl, mesh screens are susceptible to contracting in the cold, but not to the extent of clear vinyl screens. Leave these screens down whenever possible to avoid the build-up of moisture and mildew. Never use a power sprayer to clean and make sure the screens are thoroughly dry before rolling them back up.

We were looking for a company to replace our old retractable front door screen we we google and we decided to call Michele,s Hide-Away and we weren’t disappointed as we had a rep came down at our convenience brought several samples and took all the measurements they needed and answer all our questions The rep gave us a quote and I was very happy with it fast forward couple of weeks and shortly after a technician came to our house took the old one down and replaced with our new screen door.Bob was awesome polite knowledgeable and cleaned after he was done ,he also went through all the things that we had to do to maintain and operate the screen door safely and enjoy our new door.This company is worth 10 out of ten and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for any screen addition to their home and business .Thank you for awesome service.👍

We came back from a trip and our hide-away garage screen door was not working properly. It came with the house when we purchased it in 2018. There was no information on it. I researched the subject online and I read the reviews for Michele's. I contacted them. The receptionist was very nice helpful. She discovered Michele's installed it back in 2010. I was lucky and grateful this company was the original installers. They were able to schedule me within three days. The technician arrived with the timeframe the receptionist gave me. He was a friendly gentleman who diagnosed the problem within 5-minutes. He gave me a reasonable estimate and had the part on his vehicle, which was the motor. Within 90-minutes, he had the old motor replaced with the new one and the screen operational and adjusted. I thought the priced was reasonable as it was less than I estimated. I highly recommend Michele's not only for a hide-away screen repair, but also for a new installation or replacement.
